Deliver Me From My Troubles
"Turn, O Lord, deliver my life; save me for the sake of your steadfast love. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in Sheol who will give you praise?"
Psalm 6:4-5
Often we find ourselves in the same place as David, we are surrounded by our troubles. What are the things that are troubling you today? Where have you found anxiety in your heart?
David spent years in hiding, fearing for his life. He understood something that we all struggle with. He understood that the only way out of his situation was for God to move. That colored the way that he looked at things. Even with that said, at the beginning of this Psalm, David cries out for God's mercy and grace and asks, 'how long' will he have to wait for God to deliver him?
He knows that God is a deliverer. He has heard the stories of how He delivered the children of Israel from Pharoah. He heard the stories of how He saved the people from death in the wilderness. David knows God is able, so he gives two reasons as to why He should deliver him in this place:
What can we learn from this? I think the most important thing we can learn is that God can be moved to action by professing his nature. God moves when we remember who He is. God loves for people to profess his attributes. We see that throughout the Psalms.
So if you need healing today, in your prayers, call to rememberance that we are healed by His stripes. If you are worried about money, call to remembrance that God is a God who provides for all of our needs. If you are brokenhearted, remember that God draws near to the brokenhearted!
Prayer - Father, we remember who you are. We know that you are a good Father and desire good for your children. Thank you for rescuing me today. We love you. Amen.

- Steadfast Love - David knows that God is a God of steadfast love, meaning God's love never fails and never fades. It is constant. It endures. There is no trouble or trial in which God cannot show his people His love. So David asks for God to deliver Him because it proves that He steadfastly loves David.
- His Praise - David knows that God loves to receive the praise of being called a deliverer. It's part of His identity as God. He is a deliverer. David knows that if he dies in the midst of this trouble, he will not be able to stand in God's house and proclaim Him to be a deliverer.
What can we learn from this? I think the most important thing we can learn is that God can be moved to action by professing his nature. God moves when we remember who He is. God loves for people to profess his attributes. We see that throughout the Psalms.
