Fruitful Marriages Require Patience

The goal of marriage is oneness. The goal is that the two shall become one flesh as the Bible states. That’s the ultimate goal. But that’s not the only goal.

Paul says that Christ’s goal in loving the church and giving himself up for her is to sanctify her. Paul here is saying that Jesus loves the church in such a way that it results in her sanctification, meaning this, as you are loved by Jesus, you change. You change for the better. As He shows his love toward you, you don’t stay the same.

In this message, we look at how God uses our spouse to teach us patience which results in our sanctification. We become more like Christ because of marriage, not in spite of it, even when you are married to an ungodly spouse.
